The Other End of the World

This has been quite the unusual month for us. *Taking two large trips in a month has never happened before nor will it likely ever happen again* But I won't complain, seeing both Mexico and Alaska in a month was well worth the ridiculous amount of time I have spent packing and doing laundry. I also have to add, though these trips were wonderful I think maybe I've been spending too much time in escapism mode because coming back to reality has been HARD! I've been dealing with some challenging things that are kickin' me in the toosh, but I'll save that for another post and refrain from putting a damper on these fun memories.

As always, it takes so long to upload my photos that I have no blogging energy left to add very much commentary. So here's another pictorial summary of our week:

The first day was really cold but thankfully it warmed up and the rest of the week was actually really nice!

Mendenhall Glacier

View from the top of the tram in Juneau

When we first got into Glacier Bay we expected it to be frigid so we dressed for the arctic, only to find out it was actually warm outside. Later this same day little J was wading in the pool.

Kayaking in Sitka

Check out those starfish under the water!

The highlight of the trip for most of us, but probably the most terrifying 2 hours of John Hyrum's life, was taking a float-plane ride over the misty fjords of Ketchikan.

He has no idea what he's in for :)

Thankfully half way through we landed on a lake and Johnny was so exhausted from all that thrilling turbulence that he fell asleep

Not a very good picture, but check out that waterfall in the lower left hand corner right at the edge of the cloud.

This smile says it all: Boy I'm glad I made it off that plane safe and sound!

It was really fun to spend a week with most of my family (we missed you Eric and Andrea and kids...good luck with the big move!) before my parents are officially off. Thanks mom and dad for a great trip!
