St. George Easter

We had a fabulous mini vacay to St. George for Easter weekend. It seems like all our recent trips down south have been way too short, but at least that way we cram lots of fun into our stay. We drove down Friday night and had fun playing with cousins and touring the incredible new playhouse Papa has built for the grandkids.

The three amigos chillin' on the swing.

Isn't this thing amazing? Real windows, carpet, furniture, it even has a heating fireplace!

Mimi and Papa have so many fun kids toys that it was much easier to keep Johnny entertained while we watched conference.

Little J has a new obsession...basketballs! He discovered my parent's old double shot a few weeks ago and the second we walked in the Crofts' family room he saw theirs and could not contain himself he was so thrilled. All weekend he was walking around saying his favorite new word (it's so cute, he says "basket" like a question and then "ball" like it's the answer...I'll definitely have to post a video of it once I can catch it on tape). Over and over he'd grab us by the finger and literally drag us over to shoot hoops with him. Big J would hold him up high on the side by the hoops and he got pretty good at shooting them in!

Saturday morning we had an Easter egg hunt. Once Johnny discovered that there was candy in the eggs he lost interest in finding more and just wanted to eat the candy he had.

We didn't have the typical sunny, warm St. George weather but it was a ton better than the snow and rain they were getting in Salt Lake.

We are so lucky to have such darling nieces and nephews and are excited that there are 2 more little girls on the way!

As always, conference was so wonderful and I'm always amazed by how much hope and peace I feel after listening to such inspiring messages. Maybe it was just me but I felt like so many of the talks focused on the importance of rearing children and teaching them the gospel. It's so easy to forget how important the role of a mother is, especially in a world where worth is usually determined by external accomplishments. Motherhood may not be glamorous, I may not receive praise or admiration for cleaning up messes or wiping goobery noses, but there is nothing more fulfilling then watching watching little J soak up the world like a sponge, listening to his sweet belly laugh, or snuggling with him in my arms at the end of a tiring day. I still struggle at times with knowing what my path should be; what things I want to incorporate into my life to develop my individual identity. But no matter what hobbies or skills or even part-time career goals I may have, I hope I can always remind myself that motherhood will always be my #1 accomplishment.

WOW! That playhouse is so cool! I bet the kiddos totally love it. (I think I would like to play in there!)
Looks like a fun weekend!!
This session of Conference seemed to be totally directed towards mothers and parents. I loved it too. Hope everything is going well with you guys!

yeah, once henry realized he had enough eggs in his basket, he just started throwing them back out and hiding them for the other kids. it's always an adventure to see how toddlers react to their first easter egg hunt, despite our diligent efforts as parents to train them (I trained Henry for a whole week- practicing egg pick up, etc. LOL)

and wow! his vernaclur is pretty sophisticated court, if he's spitting out words like basket and ball! our newest word to the short list is "bye" , but i dunno if htat even counts.
cute photos!
